Clinical Pilates is simply what we call Pilates when it’s practiced by a physiotherapist and in a physiotherapy context. Some of our physios are trained in Pilates and may integrate it into their treatment approach using mats, reformers, or other equipment in our communal movement space.
Physio’s Perfect Partner
With a strong focus on breath and core, as well as the quieter muscles in the body, Pilates helps build strength, integration, and resilience from the inside out. It’s the perfect complement to pelvic health physio for a cheerful and symptom-free pelvis for life!
Benefits for all Bodies
Using the reformer or other Pilates equipment, we can either offload body weight for those who need more support or add strong resistance for those who need a challenge. It’s a great way to crosstrain for injury prevention or build a strong foundation for movement as you build back up.
Mind-Body Connection
Pilates can be a brain workout, too! It focuses on the mind-body connection, giving you insight, control, and confidence in the way your body moves. This can then be applied to day-to-day life, sports, or wherever your body is tested.

Clinical Pilates treatments are offered by registered physiotherapists. They primarily use Pilates as a form of movement rehab, but might also include standard physio approaches, like hands-on care, other exercises, and education. Every client gets a full physio assessment to ensure the treatment is tailored to address their issues and meet their goals.

We use clinical Pilates in the treatment of specific conditions like incontinence, prolapse, and pelvic pain, and it is also great for prenatal and postpartum care. These appointments can be used as a sole treatment approach for your pelvic health concerns or can be booked in addition to pelvic floor physiotherapy appointments for a more well-rounded approach.

Rates are as per the treating physio’s standard physiotherapy rate. A physiotherapy receipt is provided.

If you are a new client keen to make clinical Pilates part of your treatment plan, please specify this in your Match Me form!
If your Cheerful physio doesn’t offer Pilates and you’re interested in this approach, ask them about a referral. Our team is great at working together to get you the best care and results possible.

To be covered by insurance, clinical Pilates must be part of your physiotherapy treatment for a specific concern. Personal Pilates training for fitness alone would not be considered physiotherapy, therefore not covered under insurance.

Pilates with our Kin wouldn’t be covered as a physio appointment, you would get a standard Kinesiology receipt. However, it is a more budget-friendly option if you want to save your physio sessions for more hands-on care or complex work.
