Gender-Affirming & Trans Care

We know that receiving appropriate and inclusive care is not guaranteed for many trans and non-binary folks, and that it can feel like a risk to trust us, especially with sensitive issues.

Like with all our clients, we are happy to take the lead from you. You’re the expert in your body and your experience, and we will work collaboratively, bringing our expertise to help you heal. We are sure there are always improvements we can make, even tiny ones, for inclusivity. We’re happy to receive feedback or suggestions at any time.

What we treat

  • Thorax, pelvis, and ribcage treatment for any symptoms from binding or post-top surgery

  • Pre- and post-gender-affirming bottom surgery

  • Any pelvic health concerns you may have (see our other “We Help” pages), regardless of your anatomy or any gender-affirming surgery

We combine whole-body assessments and pelvic exams with an understanding of you, your nervous system, and your habits to figure out what's going on.

For pre- and post-gender-affirming surgery, we make sure to match you with a physio who is specifically trained in the anatomical changes, healing, and potential side effects of these surgeries. We use manual therapy, dilators (where relevant), exercise, and education to empower you with the tools to take care of your pelvic health for the long term.

FAQ’s

  • Yes, we do. If you are trans or non-binary and have not had gender-affirming surgery, any of our staff who have the capacity to treat your concern can help you. We treat bodies, not genders.

If you have had gender-affirming surgery and need specific help to prep or recover, we make sure you’re matched with one of our physios who has received training in this area.

  • We take care to confirm pronouns and anatomy of all clients, and don’t equate anatomy or sex with gender. We also appreciate guidance on preferred language for your anatomy if you have it.

We have a single, non-gendered washroom in the clinic, and a universal accessible washroom in the hallway, too. There are additional gendered washrooms down the hall, which you’d be very unlikely to need to use.

I want a cheerful pelvis!
