Men & All People with Penises
Consider this a waving white flag telling you you are welcome at our clinic! Male pelvic floor issues are more common than you’d think. Know that we see you, we can do so much to help you, and we’d love to have you at The Cheerful Pelvis.
What we treat
Bladder urgency, frequency, and leaking
Post pee dribble
Erectile dysfunction and pain
Pre- and post-prostatectomy rehab to optimize surgical outcomes
Pelvic, groin, penile, or testicular pain
Medical conditions like chronic prostatitis and chronic pelvic pain
We need to assess what's causing your symptoms, and this can involve a whole-body assessment for any contributing factors (you’d be surprised).
Ideally we’d do a rectal exam to assess your pelvic floor specifically, and sometimes, real-time ultrasound, to get a picture of how your pelvic floor is moving internally.
We also need to unpack any habits that might be inadvertently contributing.
We pull all the pieces of the puzzle together, talk you through it, and then put a clear plan in place to address the biggest pieces first.
FAQ’s
-
Yes!!!! Everyone has a pelvic floor, and unfortunately, male-related issues are talked about even less than “women’s health” issues. We have always and often treated men, and no guarantees, but you may not even be the only man in the waiting room!
-
For male anatomy, we can assess the pelvic floor externally, do an internal rectal exam, or use real-time ultrasound through the perineum or abdomen to assess through an image.
Similar to female pelvic floor assessments, there is much more to it than a local pelvic exam, and we look at the whole body and how the whole system works together to find the root cause and create an effective treatment plan. -
No. As with all physiotherapy, we do our own assessment and talk you through what we find and how we can help. We will send you to your doctor if we think medical testing is needed.
